Women in Construction & Media: Pip Probert, Multi Award Winning Garden Designer on BBC2, Your Garden Made Perfect and 2016 RHS Tatton Park Flower Show, Best in Show Winner.
My tool is a hand held hoe, which I absolutely love! It sounds daft, but when I am planting it really comes in handy. Bad backs are a challenge for anyone with a physical job, and getting down below a large shrub can be back breaking and awkward. So using this helps me move soil around easily. It also allows me to pack and compact. I tend to use it for a range of things, not necessarily what it is intended for… but we adapt don’t we! Making the tool work for us.
Women in Trade Day is a wonderful way to bring awareness to the fact that there are a range of businesses with women at the helm. In this day and age, it should be seen as the norm, but highlighting it in this way encourages more young women to aim for the top or become a part of a less stereotypical trade.
I will be celebrating at work, completing my Show Garden at Gardeners World Live, surrounded by many other female business owners and sole traders!
I don’t feel as though I am doing anything unique to inspire other women, but I hope my passion comes across and in turn inspires people to either take up the trade or alternatively push themselves to achieve more.
