Tara Rodrigues celebrates Women in Trade Day (Worldwide) holding her laser measure.

WITDW: Congratulations on winning Channel 4s The Big Interiors Battle recently. Briefly tell us about your tool, how important it is. Why and when you use it?

Tara: “My favourite tool is my laser measure. Anthropometrics and ergonomics are a huge consideration with each design proposal and my laser measure facilitates this process enormously.

 I use it for every single project, not only for spatial planning to create floor plans, but also when designing bespoke joinery drawings, wall finishes and even recess shelving! I measure every single nook and cranny in a room to make sure that all my designs sit perfectly where I want them to.”

WITDW: How has it changed people’s lives (or yours)?

Tara: “My clients’ are always happy to see that I’ve catered to every aspect of usability whether designing clever storage solutions or innovative layouts.”

WITDW: Briefly tell us why Women in Trade Day (Worldwide) is important to you?

Tara: “This day is a welcomed moment of reflection to celebrate women who are pursuing careers they love and pioneering in industries that don’t always welcome the ‘female’ voice or perspective. I am always thrilled to see women thriving in different industries. I don’t think success is necessarily tied to a particular career goal or position, it’s just wonderful to see women being excellent in any field.”

WITDW: How are you inspiring other women?

Tara: “Hopefully I will inspire other women and single mums to pursue their dreams. We all face different obstacles, barriers and hardships, but I’m a big believer that vision and self-discipline can get you anywhere you want to go.”

WITDW: How will you be celebrating the day?

Tara: “I’ll be celebrating the day with some other design pals probably chatting all things interiors over a glass of wine.”
